Bullets:
All Mantle standard issue projectiles are coated with a full metal jacket of sterling silver. The underlying layer is made up of a primarily tungsten alloy for heat resistance and anti armor effectiveness. Inside every projectile is a small explosive charge to fragment the strong material and an active electromagnetic device to neutralize powered shielding. The gunpowder propellant of most modern weapons is replaced with a concussion force explosive compound, maximizing power while minimizing bullet size; this innovation allows for larger magazines and higher calibers.
When the primer is struck the compound is detonated, forcing the projectile from the casing, then the EMP is activated, becoming fully functional around the time the bullet exits the barrel. When the EMP field comes into contact (1 .6 cm) with an energy shield or similar device the shield is parted around the bullet and then reconstituted when the bullet is out of range. Upon contact with a solid target the bullets softer tip will squash, triggering the charge inside. The projectile then detonates inside the target, scattering shrapnel to maximize damage.
